In early February 2020, the CRC-SSVC will support a child welfare data exchange meeting in Montreal to support Canada-wide collaboration and analysis of child welfare involvement.

On December 10, 2019, Tonino testified at the Special Commission on the Rights of the Child and Youth Protection.

2014-2025 (ONGOING)

Tonino leads the “Gestion fondée sur les indicateurs de suivi Clinique (GFISC) en protection de la jeunesse” project, funded by the Association des centres jeunesses du Québec. The GFISC project is an ongoing effort in the province of Quebec which seeks to develop clinical indicators for administration and practice within child welfare. A recent report of these efforts can be seen here.

Tonino and the CRC SSVC team are leading the SSHRC Insight grant-funded project, “The influence of neighbourhood socioeconomic disparities on child maltreatment.”

JUNE 2017

Tonino helped organize the 6th conference of the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI), “Children in a World of Opportunities: Innovations in Research, Policy, and Practice” held in Montreal.

February 2017

Close work with a network of social pediatrics clinics in Montreal culminated in a report entitled “Implementation of new community social pediatrics centres in Quebec: Identification of at-risk communities.” The report describes a spatial analysis methodology applied to a unique socioeconomic vulnerability index to identify the geographic pockets most “at-risk” of child protection involvement in the province. These findings were reported in La Presse in May 2017.
